Obituary for Susan M. Gerni
Susan M. "Aunt Sue" Gerni, 84 of Syracuse passed peacefully on Friday, August 27, 2021 at University Hospital.
Aunt Sue was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and proudly lived in her childhood home on Shirley Drive her entire life.
Born on January 15, 1937 to the late Frederick L. and Mabel (Fowley) Gerni in Syracuse.
Aunt Sue retired from the former Smith-Corona Typewriter Company working in both the Syracuse and Cortland locations as a Payroll Specialist/Accountant.
Pre-deceased by her parents, one brother and her lifelong friend, Lynn Sherwood in May of 2021 and survived by four nephews and their families.
Aunt Sue was a sweet, kind lady who was a fixture in the neighborhood and a refuge for anyone in need with her home always open to family, friends, neighbors and strangers alike.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Oakwood Cemetery, Section 50 where Sue will be buried with her beloved parents. (Please meet at the main gate at 940 Comstock Avenue at 10:45 AM).
