Obituary for Robert C. "Bob" Payne Jr.
Robert C. Payne, Jr. 86 of Liverpool passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2021 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Fulton to the late Robert C. Payne, Sr. and Leona C. (Madden) Payne, Bob was raised in Baldwinsville and moved to Liverpool in 1964.
Bob was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving honorably from 1955 to 1957 and was employed as a Field Service Representative for Pitney-Bowes, Inc. for thirty- five years.
Always a jokester, Bob was always ready with a quick joke or story and enjoyed many happy years as an avid fisherman and hunter.
Pre-deceased by his parents and his brother, Donald Payne.
Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jean (Schleier) Payne of Liverpool
Four children: Sharon (Ron Steen) of Buffalo, Gerald (Laurie) Payne of Liverpool, Kevin Payne of Monroe, NC and Linda (Julio Marcos) of Liverpool
Six grandchildren, Zachary Fancher, Christopher Fancher, Corey Payne, Mary Katherine Payne, Megan Payne and Emily Payne.
Several nieces and nephews encompassing three generations along with sisters-in-law, Mary Margaret Houghtaling and Linda Schleier and brother-in-law, Julius Mix.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be FRIDAY, March 5, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Assumption Church, 812 North Salina, Syracuse, NY
Visitation will be THURSDAY from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, Inc, 900 N. Salina Street, Syracuse.
The Rite of Committal and burial will be immediately following in Assumption Cemetery
Please be advised that due to COVID-19, you will need to have your temperature taken at both the funeral home and church and sign in at both locations. All COVID-19 restrictions will be observed in regard to social distancing and capacity restrictions.
