Obituary for Mary (Schleier) Mix
Mary (Schleier) Mix, 86 of North Syracuse passed away peacefully on June 10, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Syracuse, the eldest daughter of John and Anna Schleier, and was a long-time resident of North Syracuse.
Mary graduated Valedictorian of her class at Assumption Catholic Academy and then attended Powelson Business Institute. She later worked as a secretary at Western Electric in Syracuse, where her future husband was also employed.
She was a lifetime communicant of Assumption Church and former Religious Education Teacher and volunteer with the church. Mary was a loving wife and mother devoted to her family. Her other passions included crafting, reading, gardening, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by her husband of 65 years, Julius A. Mix Three daughters, Karen Bielby of Rome, NY Anne Mix of Liverpool, NY Elaine Mix of North Syracuse, NY Two sons, David (Laura Pantaleo) Mix of Liverpool, NY Gregory (Gwyn) Mix of Vacaville, CA Twelve grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. One sister, Jean (Robert) Payne of Liverpool Sister-in-law, Linda Schleier along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother John Schleier.
Visitation will be on SUNDAY, June 14, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, Inc., 900 N. Salina Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on MONDAY, June 15, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Assumption Church, 812 North Salina Street, Syracuse.
Please be advised that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and face masks will be required to attend both the visitation and the funeral Mass. You will need to sign in at both locations due to NYS contact tracing requirements and there may be capacity limitations.
The Rite of burial and committal will be immediately following in Assumption Cemetery
