Obituary for Julius A. Mix

Julius A. Mix, 91 of North Syracuse passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2022.

Julius was born in Syracuse to the late Julius and Marie (Meier) Mix and was a long-time resident of
North Syracuse.

Julius graduated from Assumption Catholic Academy and later served in the U.S. Air Force during the
Korean Conflict. Following his service, he was employed by Western Electric for 32 years, retiring in
1985, where he met his future wife. He was a proud lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers.

He was a lifetime communicant of Assumption Church and former member of both the Holy Name
Society and the Assumption Ushers.

Julius was a loving husband and father devoted to his family. In addition to spending every possible
moment with his family, he enjoyed wood working, caring for his yard, smoking his pipe, visiting with
friends and neighbors, and was the king of Grandpa jokes. His family loved hearing him play his
accordion.

Pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary (Schleier) Mix in 2020.

Survived by three daughters, Karen Bielby of Rome, Anne Mix of Liverpool, and Elaine Mix of North
Syracuse; two sons, David (Laura) Mix of Liverpool and Gregory (Gwyn) Mix of Vacaville, CA; twelve
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and another due next month; two sisters-in-law, Jean Payne
and Linda Schleier; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Assumption Church, 812
North Salina Street.

The Rite of burial and committal will be immediately following in Assumption Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Assumption Church, 812 North Salina Street, Syracuse,
