Obituary for Frank B. Reith

Frank B. Reith, 95 of Syracuse died on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Loretto Geriatric Center after a long illness.

Native of Syracuse, he was born on July 16, 1925 to the late J. Frank and Emma (Kessler) Reith.

Graduate of Assumption Academy, Christian Brothers Academy and Lemoyne College earning a Bachelor of Business in the first graduating class at Lemoyne in 1951.

Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Metalsmith, 2nd Class.

Communicant of Assumption Church and faithfully attended daily Mass at the Sisters of St. Francis Convent on Court Street for many years before their move to the Villa in 2015.

Frank worked a lifetime for the family business of Syracuse Wire and Fence Company started by his mother and father who emigrated from Germany to the United States in the early 1920’s. He also established Reith's Hole Drilling Service in 1957.

Proud Red Cross Blood Donor and gave hundreds of gallons during his lifetime.

Pre-deceased by his parents, his wife of 52 years, Rita (Logan) Reith on April 10, 2015; his siblings, Henry Reith and Doris Gunter and sister-in-law, Erma Reith.

Survived by five children: Roseanne Donegan of Cazenovia, NY, Daniel (Elizabeth) Reith of Syracuse, Michael (Linda) Reith of Holbrook, MA, Mary Joan (William) Kelly of Juno Beach, FL and Sharon Reith of Syracuse.

6 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren

Two siblings, Charles Reith and Ermina Martin; One brother-in-law, Horace “Bill” Gunter and many nieces and nephews.

Being the generous soul that Frank was, he donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Upstate Medical University.

The Reith Family would like to extend their gratitude to the Loretto Family for their loving care and support of their beloved father for the past three years.

There are no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, JULY 6, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Assumption, 812 North Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13208.

Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
