Obituary for Arturo E. "CHINO" Ortiz

Arturo E. (Chino) Oritz, 50 of Syracuse passed away Saturday morning, November 19, 2022 at University Hospital.

Chino was born in Manhattan, NY and was a Syracuse area resident for many years.

A classically trained Chef who graduated from Culinary School, Chino worked at many restaurants in both Miami, FL and Central New York areas and was known for his amazing cooking.

A kind, gentle, jokester of a man with a big personality and loud booming voice, Chino loved life, his family, friends and strangers alike. He loved fireworks, music, dancing, playing dominos and spending time with his large extended family. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law and nephew and all that knew him, loved him.

Pre-deceased by his twin brothers, Ommy and Moises Gracciano

He is survived by his wife of 9 years (together for 13), Kristi (Widger) Ortiz and their five children, Akiliz, Aaliyah, Aandre, Alyssa, Arturo, Jr. plus eight other children, Alexis Ortiz, Alicia Ortiz, Anthony Ortiz, Aris Rucker, Jonathan Phillip. Adelina Dominguez, Malik and Ommy Dominguez.

His parents, Aida Ortiz and Jose (Hilda) Hilerio. His sister, Ashmaly (Nova) Pena and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be next Wednesday, NOVEMBER 30, 2022 from 11:00 to 12:00 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00 PM.

Please bring your funny stories about Chino so that we can remember him with laughter and not tears.

Burial will be immediately following at Loomis Hill Cemetery
